Haunted House

Nothing more perfect for the Halloween season than a haunted house!

I did this in Photoshop, starting with a beautiful Victorian home in great condition. Lots of fun, and I’ve been dying to do more of these. I did it in school and there was a tutorial for it that has since disappeared. There are tons of tutorials to do similar images, so I’ll try a few of those the rest of the month.

Movies this week were all pretty good and I binge watched a TV show, all listed below:

John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams is a TV show on Peacock that includes hauntings and horrific stories that are supposed to be true accounts.

The Big Shave was a short movie about a guy shaving his face off. Well, not that horrific, but it’s old and good.

Oracle is an HBO Max original that is new and about a old haunted plantation. There’s a racial theme as it delves into the houses history. It was creepy and pretty good too.

Lastly, I watched Totally Killer on Prime Video, and it’s about time traveling to stop murders. Good horror movie for younger teens.

This is all I’ve got for ya. Have a great week!

Lurking Psycho Clowns

I haven’t shared one of my Places to Read Horror collages for awhile, so here’s one of the latest I really love.

Yes, I’m one of those people who finds all clowns creepy. I remember going to the circus when I was a kid, and they were more fascinating in a bad way, especially the sad clowns. As an adult, it’s all about the horror clowns in movies and such. There are tons of creepy clown pictures out there, so I’ll be doing many more of these.

This was done in Adobe Express, which I’m slowly switching to because the images come out a lot better.

Up to this point, I’ve done quite a few of these, all available for the best viewing on my @meanwinniejean Instagram account.

Until next time…

I Can’t Stop Thinking About Zombies

Yep, I got zombies on the brain. That’ll tell you how much I love them. Could also be because I started reading Do Zombies Dream of Undead Sheep?: A Neuroscientific View of the Zombie Brain by Timothy Verstynen and Bradley Voytek. So far it’s blowing my mind on how the brain works. I also did the collage to the right recently. Lots of fun and one of my favorites so far.

Very exciting news on my Amazon followers. I have 44. Okay, not so impressive, but if you had asked me before they added the number to Author Central, I’d have said I likely have only 3. I guess they added it a while back, but I just learned about it. Forced me to also spend some time there, updating my author profile. I’m not a huge fan of the new look and feel of the author pages though. Oh well.

And speaking of being an author, book covers are still in the works for the first 3 books. Everything else is ready to go. Trying to make sure I meet a May 15th release date. Still giving out Warrant for Damnation for free if you want it. Go to the Contact page to make a request.

Have a great week!

Who Does She Look Like?

I got another lady of horror in Patrick Nagel style done this week. Guess who she is? Actually, all you gotta do is go to the Vampira post and you’ll find out. Anyway, if you guessed Morticia Addams, you are right. While I’m really happy how she turned out, I’m not happy with the likeness. Spoken like a true artist…never happy and always finding the flaws no one else can see.

I have a long list of other ladies to do, eleven more in total with Elvira coming up next. Got a little help with the list from fellow artist, Lauren Curtis, who is also my art/marketing coach. Her website art gallery is worth a look.

What else happened this week? A whole bunch more Places to Read Horror collages, this being my favorites of the bunch. You’ll have to follow me on social media if you want to see more.

The only other exciting thing from last week is that I saw Cocaine Bear. What a hoot!!! Since I’ve decided not to do official reviews anymore, you’ll have to take my word that I laughed my ass off. Margo Martindale’s story line was the best. Sorry, no spoilers. You’ll have to see it yourself. And the main thing I really loved about the movie was that Elizabeth Banks produced and directed the movie. What an inspiration because men still dominate the horror comedy, in bad taste entertainment that I love to write and create in art.

Have a great week! Mine will be spent trying to change the name of The Courier to Angel’s Dark and Dumb. Wish me LUCK!

Invasion of the Crazy Giant Bugs

Crazy week with only this to share as one of last week’s creations. A very simple one to create, and I guess I could have been more creative with it. Maybe added a few people to the collage.

Not much progress on finishing the final review of Warrant for Damnation. Right now I’m flooded with that feeling of having way too much on my to do list. That vicious cycle of moving tasks from day to day until you have a list you can’t possibly accomplish in a year let along a day or a week. Yeah, that’s me so far in 2023.

So, I guess the inspiration for the crazy giant bugs invading town is about me being invaded with too many expectations. Yeah, I need some cheese with my whine.

Stay tuned. I’ve got a fun chapter in Warrant for Damnation to share next week. Reviewed it last week and thought you might like a preview.
