Angels Dark and Dumb Releasing on Kindle Vella

Sharing one of my favorite horror collages. These were originally done to identify where to read horror, but I’ve decided to remove the banners and just go with the collages going forward. I like how the orange lady bugs create contrast in this one. Lately, I’ve been thinking of pairing these with a horror poem. I may have mentioned this already in a post a couple weeks ago. Then I look at my task list and laugh. Yeah, fit in yet another project. What am I nuts.

Angels Dark and Dumb News: I started releasing the series on Kindle Vella. It starts with Fall for Freedom and goes through the series from there. Click here to go to the series page and read.

Short and sweet this week. Have a great day!

Frank-n-Furter is Complete

This is it for Ladies of Horror for awhile. Frank-n-Furter has brought me to the point I need a break from this style, although the characters in The Rocky Horror Picture Show could keep me busy with these for months. We’re planning on seeing the movie in the theater this year around Halloween. Can’t wait!

I really need to do something different. Something a bit more detailed. What shall I do? Feel free to request something. Otherwise, I have a million things to do on the list, so the fact that I’m wondering what to do is kinda insane.

Chugging forward on Corner of Hell and Second Chances. It was a hard start, and it felt like I was writing a novel for the first time. Once I started writing about Barry and Candy, it got easier. Really love that author/character relationship during the writing of the first draft.

Guess that’s all. Have a GREAT week!

Emo Art is Cool!

Don’t cry over spilled wine.

Emo art is another school project. I had no idea this is a style until we were given a page full of art styles and told to create a piece for a few of them. I fell in love with Emo art as soon as I saw it, so much so that I’d love to do a graphic novel in this style.

I do have to admit that this is a bit of a rip off from DemiseMan on Deviant Art. Definitely check out that page. Really amazing stuff there. The monsters are especially fierce. Another reason to use the style for my own story in my own style.

Angels Dark & Dumb News: The outline for Corner of Hell and Second Chances is complete. And I started writing the first scenes. Barry meets Satan at the beginning of book #3.

Nothing more. Have a great week!

Quick and Simple is Likeable Too

Today I’m presenting a piece that shows the insanity of creating art pieces. I love the way this turned out and I did it in 10 minutes. Other times I can take hours, days, or months to complete a piece and I absolutely hate it in the end.

Maybe I’m a little crazy to keep every single piece of art I create, be it a sketch or partially completed piece or a complete work of art. I do the same with every story I write. Throwing them away is like killing my kids. Even worse, our diva beagle who rates much higher in the order of children.

Anyway, I really like this piece. It’s a lot of fun to take everyday items from around the house and throw together a collage. There’s just something about shapes and my brain that go well together too. Building or creating with your hands is so satisfying.

Every time I look at this one, I feel inspiration to do something similar. For a long time I’ve wanted to hit all the thrift stores for items to use in a collage. Professing it here may get me out there quicker.

Have a great week!

Bride of Chucky

Look who joins the Ladies of Horror. Tiffany, Bride of Chucky, is done. Probably the most fun to do, especially around the eyes. Great horror comedy movie, and Jennifer Tilly is so good as Tiffany.

I actually finished this one over a month ago, but forgot to post her here. And I just finished Frank-N-Furter, but you’ll have to wait a few weeks to see Tim Curry here. The drawing is on my @meanwinniejean Deviant Art account if you want to see it now.

Sadly, Frank-N-Furter is the last Ladies of Horror I’m doing for awhile. I’m moving on to Grim Reapers or Zombies. I’m also refining the illustrations for a children’s book I wrote for a school project. It’s time that I publish the book. It will be a similar format to the Frog and Toad books.

That’s all this week. Have a great next week.

Note that this series is a mix of well known Ladies of Horror done in a Patrick Nagel style from the 80s. I started these to better learn the Pen tool in Adobe Illustrator, and they’ve become an obsession. If there’s a lady of horror you’d like to see, leave her in a comment. I will start them back up at around Halloween.
