Goals . . . Again?!?!

Really. It’s time to set yearly goals . . . again? What happened to 2013? It went by in a flash! Back in April I addressed getting back on track with my 2013 goals, but it never happened. I remember writing that I was happy with what I’d achieved early on in the year, but the problem was I had only achieved things that weren’t on my list of goals. Well that’s gotta change in … Read more

Story a Day in May

I just joined Story a Day in May today. I had found this event last year and put it on the Visionary Press calendar, but forgot about it until I checked email this morning and found the reminder. At first I posted I wished I had time to do this event. Then I realized that was an excuse and decided to make time. This is the perfect challenge for me right now. I even dragged … Read more

Bloodleggers Returns Summer of 2013

R. J. Robyn and I have returned to writing Bloodleggers. As originally planned, we will release the popular vampire serial in episodes once a month here and on the Friday Frights website as a part of Serial Sunday. What’s It About When FBI Agent William Knox is sent to Denver to investigate a rash of missing persons, he meets indentured vampire, Regina Todd, and together they must unravel a dark maze of crime syndicates, secret … Read more

New Year’s Resolutions

It’s that time of year again. You know, when we all make promises we rarely keep. This year I have only a few: spend more time on my own writing and keep up on blog posts. Here on my website I’ll post news about my writing and publishing progress, but it won’t be too often. Most of my posts will be on the Minor Insanity blog. Oh, and I’ll post on the Visionary Press blog … Read more

Still digging our way out of the snow

Posted by W.J. Howard After all the snow we got in Denver and Colorado Springs, this week’s title only seemed fitting but still misleading. We finished digging out Saturday morning and we drive a Hummer, so we never really are stuck anywhere. Biggest news this week is Randall Stone is joining us here at Minor Insanity whether he likes it or not. I approached him shortly after I read some of his short stories on … Read more

An awesome start to the week

Posted by W.J. Howard Despite the fact that we had another kid in the hospital over the weekend, this time getting stitched up from a cut to the hand by a broken glass, AND I had another flu virus attack me last week, THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MONDAY’S EVER! The Courier was released this morning! WHOO HOO!! GO BUY IT NOW! Or, get it for free by dropping by one of the Minor … Read more

Sucky Monday

Posted by W.J. Howard It’s a sucky Monday, starting the week with bad news, so I totally forgot about posting an update. All I’ve wanted to do today is immerse myself in writing and editing my next three #fridayflash stories so I don’t have to think about it. And speaking of #fridayflash, I released two stories last week if you missed them. Links to #fridayflash are back in the right column. Top 2 are most … Read more

In 2012

Post by W.J. Howard 2011 was a very productive year, and I personally wouldn’t want to read back through my accomplishments, so enough said. Plans for 2012 are just as aggressive and we’ll be sharing them in Monday posts going forward. I promise they won’t be nearly as long as this post, which is an overview of the year ahead. First to happen this year, the release of episode one of The Courier. It’s happenin’ … Read more

Honoring Veterans

Today is a special day for me because I served 8 years in the Air Force back in the 80s and 90s. I dug up this picture, taken during my E-4 pinning ceremony and re-enlistment 20 years ago. I know people say it all the time, but it really does feel like yesterday. Serving my country was the most honorable thing I’ve done in my life, and I’ve spent most of today thinking about all … Read more

OMG! The Website’s Cleaned Up

Yes, I’ve finally cleaned up the website/blog here. Took me all day today and it’s 9:30 P.M. at night and I’ll probably not be able to sleep because my brain won’t stop churning. Considering the dogs have been getting me up at 3:30 A.M. most morning, I ought to be worthless again tomorrow morning. Not good considering I’ve got A LOT of editing to do to the second part of The Bone Festival. Enough babbling. … Read more

Back to Blogging with a Goals Check-In

It’s time. My plan was to start blogging again June 1st and here I am. Considering we’re closing in on the 2011 halfway point, I thought I’d start with a goals check-in. What have I been up to? Lots and lots of writing and editing, and I’m too excited to report that I’m over my target word count for both so far this year. Rather than write another novel or two this year, I decided … Read more

Back on EdMo

After 4 days off of doing about nothing this week, I’ve been back editing the last few days.  Am up to 19 hours, a few hours further than the challenge suggestion of 16.5.  What did I do during my 4 days off, in between naps?  Comedy therapy via Trailer Park Boys. I’m a little embarrassed to say I’ve sat through a little over 3 seasons since last Friday. But, hey, laughter is the best medicine, … Read more

Bad Start to a Challenge

What a difference between NaNoEdMo and NaNoWriMo. There are so few participants, you can hear crickets over on the EdMo website. That and the site has been attacked by a spammer, which seems to be keeping people away. There’s no leadership and no one communicating to the group except for a few posts by the editing support staff. Still, I’m set on completing the challenge. I’ve even started some discussions in the Horror & Thriller … Read more

1 Day Down, 30 To Go

Yesterday was a mellow first day, editing The Courier for NaNoEdMo, just as I hoped it would be. I’m taking a different approach during NaNoEdMo than I did writing 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo, hoping I don’t burn out by day three. When it comes to new stories, I can write like a crazed maniac for days and days. Editing is such a different process though. That approach would probably put me in an asylum by … Read more

NaNoEdMo Starts Tuesday

It dawned on me an hour ago that it’s the end of February, and there are only a few days until NaNoEdMo begins. So I decided to drop by the NaNoEdMo website and check on a 2011 badge and add posts in a few discussions. Unfortunately, no badges and it looks like their forum has been invaded by those damn spammers. Also, and there are forum bugs because the site wouldn’t allow me to post … Read more

Like the New Site?

Why the changes?  I’m creating a website for my husband’s business and decided to move my blogs to his server.  Am also pointing all blogs here including Bloodleggers and The Courier.   R. J. and I will post here later this year instead of having a separate blog.  Everything’s incorporated into one place now.  Also added a home page for quick news blurbs.  I’ll also be adding a forum on the site eventually.  Until then, pardon … Read more

Blog Shut Down Until Further Notice

Saying no can be the ultimate self-care. CLAUDIA BLACK Up to the last minute I’ve changed my goals for 2011 and they’re finally set in stone.  There’s been one item consistently left off the list though, blogging.  So I’m officially shutting down here until further notice.  I won’t be blogging elsewhere either.  I decided to do this after reading about creative u-turns in The Artist’s Way.  Blogging has always been a distraction from editing for … Read more

I’m a Winner!!

TweetHow FUN!  Yesterday I copied Cause for Redemption into the NaNoWriMo word counter for my first time ever, and I’m a winner…WHOO HOO!!  Such a little thing, but a great feeling knowing that I’ve finished the contest. Now I have to finish the novel in the next 5 days.  Considering I wrote the second book in 3 days, I’ll finish up this book no problem.  It’ll be interesting to see how many words the final … Read more
