Leftover Wine

Welcome Back to Wendy’s Wine Fest! HOORAY! One of my resolutions for 2013 is more blogging about fun stuff. So, how could I not bring back my wine reviews? I want to do more than just reviews this year. I’ll be writing about wine festivals, wine & cooking classes, and generally anything else related to wine. Wine and cooking are two of my greatest escapes from the stresses of writing, editing and managing a publishing … Read more

Kendall Jackson Ain’t Bad Wine

I missed a few weeks posting because I’m on partial vacation and very busy over at Visionary Press Cooperative. Starting a new business is FUN FUN FUN, but soooo time consuming. I’m so glad I’ve got the support of Blaze McRob and Sue Mydliak through our start up! This will be a quick one just because I wanted to make sure I posted. In fact, I’ll probably post more of our favorites until after the … Read more

And I don’t mean that I’m posting my wine suggestion late this Wednesday. That’s actually the name of the wine. I’m pretty lazy tonight, so this will be short and sweet. We’ve been drinking Oops Wines for a little over a year now and it’s on our regular purchase list. We get them from Safeway, who seems to be the only carrier of the wine in our area. Tonight’s selection was Carmen’re Merlot. The (oops) … Read more

My FAV Vineyard

This week I’m highlighting an Australian vineyard and winemaker rather than an individual wine. We drink more D’Arenberg wine in our house than any other. Check out this page and you’ll see all the labels, making them quite a prolific wine producer. Prices are mainly affordable, and a few higher but well worth it! The first wine we tried was the Dead Arm Shiraz and and fell so in love with it we had to … Read more

Liked Voss Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc

Tonight’s wine is a 2009 Voss Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc, and we liked it just fine and would buy it again. Didn’t blow us away thought. “The Voss Sauvignon Blanc developed beautifully during the warm summer days and typically cool evenings. We harvested for maturation over two nights in early September with the various vineyard blocks giving us a breadth of fruit profile. Our pre dawn harvesting, when the fruit is at its coldest, helps to … Read more

Wine with Breakfast for Dinner

We’re big winos around our house, attend wine tastings whenever we can and enjoy sharing our likes and dislikes with anyone who will listen.  In fact, we’ve keep a spreadsheet over the years that contains our and friends’ ratings on various wines.  It’s up to 264 different varietals…oh my. Lately I’m finding that I really enjoy white wines from Chili.  The reds we’ve tried are okay, but that could be because we haven’t tried many … Read more

Werewolves & Wine & Beer & Coffee

So sorry I’ve missed about a month of wine posts. I’ve been mismanaging my time lately. Time management is something I know so well I could write a book on it, but you gotta actually follow the practice. So I can’t even come up with a good excuse. Anyways, if you’re on Twitter, you know that every day seems to have a theme or two or three. Being a writer, we try to support each … Read more

To Wine or Not to Wine

I’ve had two down days of feeling like a cold or flu is coming on. So I’ve had to contemplate canceling Wine Wednesday in between popping zink tablets. Then, in my cloudy state of mind, I wondered if a glass or two will actually be harmful or helpful. After all, wine is good for the heart. Off I went to Google and found this. It has been found that those who drink a glass of … Read more
