Corkscrew Design is Like Building a Better Mousetrap

We love wine clubs not only for the amazing wines they deliver, but also for the goodies. A couple shipments ago we got the new corkscrew shown left. It’s a familiar one. I’d used it at a party once and found it easy to use and effortless to pop the cork. When I used the new one again, I thought about how corkscrews have become an inventive project like building a better mousetrap. I’m kinda … Read more

More Ways to Waste Energy

Welcome back to a new #WineWednesday drinking gadget feature. This week I’m hopping mad and not because this week’s gadget keeps your drink warm. I’m here to say we need to stop creating gadgets like the USB Beverage Cup Cooler and Warmer in the video below. Like we don’t already use way more energy than we need. Drink your beverage while it’s hot or cold, or get your ass up to reheat it or add … Read more

Wine Wipes

Happy #WineWednesday! Although I won’t be partaking today. I’m going in for part 2 of a root canal tomorrow and really don’t want to face the dentist with a wine headache. It’s bad enough going to the dentist (my greatest fear), so I’ll be saving the wine guzzling for after the torture session. I’m back after a few years away from weekly wine blog posts. I’ve decided to bring back this fun event, but instead … Read more

Zombie Wine Holders

This is a lame Wine Wednesday because I’ve been sick since Saturday. The chances of me consuming wine this evening are not likely. So I wanted to do something fun, especially with Halloween coming up, and here it is, zombie wine holders. This is my favorite! I found this guy and bought him to add him to my Halloween decorations! I’m a little shocked that these guys are holding white wine. Hell yeah! First thing … Read more

Wine Review: Fuente Elvira

WELCOME BACK TO #WINEWEDNESDAY! This is my favorite blogging day of the week and I’m too happy to be back here, talking about the reds, the whites and the potential hangovers. This week I’m starting off with a wine review for a summer favorite. I found this wine at Costco of all places. We frequent a Costco liquor store that’s good about showcasing wines of all flavors and prices. Me and the handy dandy Vivino … Read more

All I Want for Christmas…

I’m struggling for #WineWednesday topics again, although I did find this glass that sums up my wants for Christmas this year. Along with the glass of wine I’ll take a little piece and quiet. This holiday season has been insane with the birth of new family members and weddings between Christmas and New Years, as if the season isn’t busy enough. So, since Christmas is next Wednesday, I’ll say cheers and return to #WineWednesday next … Read more

The Perfect Wine Glass

Welcome back to #WineWednesday! Nothing to really add but the picture below. Love this idea although I think it’ll be kinda hard to drink from this, considering the size of a bottle. Anyways, I’ll be spending much of my day tweeting and looking for something to talk about next week. With the Christmas holiday coming up, shouldn’t be too hard. ENJOY your #WineWednesday!

Jesus Answers a Question

I’m doing something different this week. I’ve been so busy I couldn’t think what to write, so God intervened. I was reading The Bible and ran across Luke 5:33-39 a few days ago: Jesus Questioned About Fasting 33 They said to him, “John’s disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.” 34 Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast … Read more

#WineWednesday After #WineMonday

I had an awesomely fun #WineMonday with our new Visionary Press Cooperative member, Rebekah Welch, The Colorado Connector. Rebekah has recently taken over our Marketing and we got together to finish her orientation. I have to say that as VPC grows, and as we bring in new members and authors, I’m really tempted to put wine in our orientations agenda, even if it adds a few extra days to actually get it done. Anyways, this … Read more

Wine in the Black Box

#WineWednesday returns with wine in a box. We had to try Black Box after seeing the commercials. I guess every now and then marketing works. Things sure are changing in the world of wine. Last time I had wine in a box was at Thanksgiving years ago and it was the standard Franzia we all know so well. Have you seen the selection of boxed wine in the liquor and grocery stores the last few … Read more

Wine Socks

I totally forgot about #WineWednesday yesterday, so the post I had planned for this week will have to wait until next week. I did, however, come across these bacon socks on the Pinup Girl Clothing website. They got me to wondering if there are wine socks, which there are. What I also found was the best way ever to give socks as a gift. I mean, seriously, who really likes receiving socks as a birthday … Read more

Movie Review: The Vineyard

This week my zombie movie review meets #WineWednesday, which is why I posted it today instead of yesterday. While looking for bad zombie movies I found The Vineyard, written, directed, and staring James Hong. You know . . . the host at the Chinese restaurant in Seinfeld. If you don’t know him by that role, just look at his face and some movie will pop into your mind if not 10 or 20. I bet … Read more

Brown Bag Wine Tasting

I found Brown Bag Wine Tasting with William Shatner awhile back, but forgot to feature it on Wine Wednesday. I’ll mention that he tastes wine with some interesting people and leave it at that. Go over and enjoy a few episodes. Brown Bag Wine Tasting with William Shatner – The Webseries: Bill goes out into the public with a bottle of wine in a brown paper bag. After meeting a new friend, they taste and … Read more

Join Me on Vivino

Below is a re-post from the Minor Insanity blog back a few months ago. We’re shutting down that blog and Wine Wednesday has moved here. I want to mention that I’ve been using Vivino regularly and have tried out a few other wine apps. Vivino beats the others by far and last weekend I went Pro. So if you drop by and read and are on Vivino, below is a link to my account. Connect … Read more

Try Unchained Naked Chardonnay

I’ve decided to shut down the Minor Insanity blog and re-post my #WineWednesday posts here until I have time write new posts, probably in June after the insane Story a Day in May challenge. This week I’m expressing my love for Unchained Naked Chardonnay a wine by Big House Wine Company. They say on their website: “We veered off the California standard by using steel tank and neutral oak barrels; thereby preserving the true fruit … Read more

Vinny No Neck Wine, Spicy and Flowery

This week I decided to try something new, so I pulled the first wine that caught my eye, Vinny No Neck by Bonacquisti Wine Company. I was then excited to find that it’s a Denver produced wine, which means we can visit the tasting room. Here’s what they say about their wine. In honor of our son Vincent (who will be a foot taller once he grows a neck). This Italian style red is a … Read more

Sexy Wine Labels

As Valentines day quickly approaches and considering my hubby pulled out a bottle of The Watchers from Fetish Wines for tonight, this post was a given. Hmmm . . . I wonder what he has planned this evening? Let’s face it, we’re all suckers for a sexy wine label whether it’s the name of the wine or the picture on front. I can’t argue with all the articles I’ve read today, sex sells! And so … Read more

Short Shelf Life

Today I educated myself on sulfite free wines, and I think I’ll pass on buying any in the future. We don’t have any allergies in our family to the stuff, so no need to drink it anyways. Side note, one of the interesting things I learned is that wine has less sulfites than most dried fruit. Main reason is because we maintain a pretty large collection of wine at any given time. Until today, I … Read more
